Managing Use of Force Module

If you have the Use of Force Manage permission or are an agency administrator, you can manage the Use of Force Module

Manage => Use of Force

This brings you to the Use of Force analytical Dashboard

Use of Force Sub Menu

The Sub-Menu allows you to manage the settings for the Use of Force module.

Major Components

  • New Use of Force Report - Create a new Use of Force Report.
  • Dashboard - Takes you to the Dashboard.
  • Search - Search for Use of Force Reports.
  • Workflow - View a list of Reports currently in Workflow.

Use of Force Module Variables

  • Assaulted - Manage the list of Was Employee Assaulted Type choices (Default are Yes/No)
  • Zone - Manage your agency's beats/zones. (note the term Zone can be customized)
  • Behavior - Manage the list of Subject Behavior Types.
  • Body Part - Manage the list of Use of Force Body Parts (please ask for assistance with this setting).
  • Build - Manage the list of Subject Build Types.
  • Charges - Manage the list of possible Charges.
  • Clothing - Manage the list of Clothing Types.
  • Defensive - Manage the list of Officer Defense Reasons.
  • Disposition - Manage the list of Disposition Types.
  • Effectiveness - Manage the list of Effectiveness of Force Used Types.
  • Ethnicity - Manage the list of Ethnicities.
  • Force - Manage the list of Force Applied Types.
  • Emp Status - Manage the list of Employee Statuses.
  • Gender - Manage the list of Genders.
  • Identify - Manage the list of Officer Identified Themself Types. (Default is Yes/No).
  • Impairment - Manage the list of Subject Impairment Types.
  • Injury - Manage the list of Injury Types.
  • In/Out - Manage the list of In/Out Types (Default is Indoor/Outdoor).
  • Light - Manage the list of Lighting Types.
  • Natures - Manage the list of Call Natures.
  • Noise - Manage the list of Noise Types.
  • Race - Manage the list of Races.
  • Recommendation - Manage the list of Disposition Recommendations.
  • Resistance - Manage the list of Subject Resistance Types.
  • Settings - Manage the main settings for the module.
  • Subject - Manage the list of Subject Types (including color codes).
  • Surface - Manage the list of Surfaces Types.
  • Template - Manage the Test Editor Templates for this module.
  • Treatment - Manage the list of Treatment Provided Types.
  • Video - Manage the list of Video Types.
  • Warn - Manage the list of Warnings Given Types (Default is Yes/No).
  • Weapon - Manage the list of Weapon Types.
  • Weather - Manage the list of Weather Types.

Managing Workflow

As a Use of Force Manager, you can see the status of Reports in Workflow and Re-Route them if necessary.

Use the Sub-Navigation menu and click Workflow

This brings you to the list of reports in workflow (if any).

Click View to see the Use of Force Report

The first thing you see is a flag that the Report is currently In Workflow.

Scroll Down to the Process Workflow as Reviewed section to Re-Route.

Re-Direct Workflow. Click the Red Re-Route Workflow button at the far right of the section

A modal opens allowing you to select the person to Re-Route the report to for review.

Permissions (Roles)

There are seven role permissions that can be set by Agency Administrators.

  • Use Of Force Create: Can create Use of Force Reports
  • Use Of Force Create Others: Can create Use of Force Reports for others
  • Use Of Force Search: Can Search for Use of Force Reports
  • Use Of Force Review: Can Review Reports
  • Use Of Force Approve: Can Disposition Reports
  • Use Of Force Manage: Can Manage the module (settings & full administrative access)
  • Use of Force Logs: Can view Use of Force Logs

There is no hierarchy within the Use of Force Module. If you have the proper permission to Search Use of Force Reports, you will be able to see ALL use of Force Reports.

Configuration

The module can be configured to the agency's specifications. The default values are shown below:

  • Module Name: Use of Force
  • Use of Force Report Term: Report
  • Case Number Field Name: Case Number
  • Anyone can create entries: Off
  • Show New Use of Force Instructions: Empty and Off
  • Use/Show My Use of Force: On
  • Allow Damaged Property: On
  • Allow Files: On
  • Allow Narrative: On
  • Allow Training Entries: On

To modify any of the configurations navigate to:

Your Name => Agency Tools => Agency Configs => Use of Force Module
